Things to do & places to see in Rotterdam

The area around train station Blaak, which was destroyed by a German bombardment during World War II, forcing the Netherlands to surrender. After the war, it has been reconstructed with all kinds of strange and fascinating buildings. Especially the Cube Houses are worth seeing.

The marketplace is also here on each Saturday morning, it is definitely worth a visit to get acquainted with local food and customs. And the 'Old Harbour' is around the corner for a drink and a bite to eat. 

Chinatown - Just walk out the front of Rotterdam central station and to the first intersection. You can't miss it!

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen: an art museum with art from the Middle Ages until 20th century.

Getting to Rotterdam Europoort Ferry port by Car

The terminal in Europoort lies approx. 37 km from the centre of Rotterdam, or about one hour's drive. On approaching Rotterdam, follow the signs for 'Europoort'. In the Europoort area, just follow the signs 'Engeland' and 'P&O Ferries'. The dock number (Havennummer) of P&O Ferries is 5805.

Getting to Rotterdam Europoort Ferry port by Rail

From Rotterdam Central Railway Station to Europoort terminal the departure is at 18:00 hours at the south-west entrance to the Central Railway Station. From Europoort port to Rotterdam Central Railway Station: departure after arrival of ship. Prices are 4,00 - 6,00 Euro for single trip.

Rotterdam has a small airport. You can get here from London, Berlin, Oslo, Stockholm and many more cities with low-cost airline Transavia. Bus 33 runs regularly and takes you to the city centre in 20 minutes, for about e2.30. It's worth noting that the airport is essentially one long room with a small upstairs area with an expensive, sub par restaurant.

The `Pride of Rotterdam's' onboard facilities include extensive food and beverage outlets, the Four Seasons Buffet Restaurant, Children's World (an adventure play area) as well as a video games arcade.

Those with disabilities may contact the ferry company prior to departure, to organise any special assistance that they may require in boarding vessels. Terminal facilities include specially adapted washrooms and good wheelchair access to all areas of the terminal.
